Science Fiction

In the Science Fiction genre, I have two distinctive works.  The Steven Gordon series is dedicated to my mother, who complained that my modern novels were too full of sex, violence and swear words.  With that in mind, I wrote this series in the style of science fiction that I was brought up reading.  Simple clean and hopefully, a lot of fun.  This space opera was written with the older generation in mind, but is also suitable for all ages, from early teens upwards.

Pursued across the great barrier, two self-aware ships and their crews escape with their lives from marauding pirates, but the neutrons from our solar system are deadly to the crews and the ships are soon left desolate and alone. On hearing a distant signal they follow it to Earth.
On Earth young Steven Gordon, a child protegee is nearly killed in a horrific crash. After being told he will remain in a vegetative state for the rest of his life, his family witnesses true courage as Steven battles his way back from the brink. Years later he takes up a job with a lifelong friend as a night security guard, but gone is the genius that was the boy. The stage is now set for a miracle and an adventure of a lifetime. Join Steven as he reaches for the sky.

The Modloch Empire

Book three in the Steven Gordon series takes us into the heart of the Modloch Empire. Humanity quickly becomes ensnared by galactic politics. The people of Earth have to choose a single representative and the President of the United States is elected. He leaves his office and rushes to the aid of the fleet, now trapped within the Modloch Emperor’s web. He picks up the UK King and his new wife on route, and together they begin a campaign to win the heart and minds of the Modloch Emperor and his people. Humanity is at last coming of age, but its enemies have not forgotten the devastating losses inflicted against them. Steven, Komoru and their crews find themselves drawn into the middle of the unfolding drama. At the twelfth hour, they are all that stands between humanity and extinction.

The  Goodwill Ambassador

goodwills2.jpg

The Goodwill Ambassador is the next book in the series. Steven and Komoru are asked by the Worlds President to take on the ambassadorial roles of goodwill ambassadors to Earth. some think it will be an easy job, however, what Steven and Komoru fail to realise is that in the game of galactic politics, the Goodwill ambassadors are often the sacrificial pawns that are sent in first. It is a fast road to success for most goodwill ambassadors, but only for the few that survive the role.

Federation One

FederationOneFinal_edited.jpg

The fifth book in the Steven Gordon series is an infill on the events that happened onboard Federation One and The Sir William Wallace in more detail. It also gave me an opportunity to give some of the other characters a chance to shine away from the ship. I was considering making this an offshoot of the series to follow some of the other characters, however, given the negativity of some of the reviews left for Federation One, I don't think I will bother. It did give me an opportunity to broaden out some of the other main players on the alien side of the Federation, and their way of thinking politically.

The Death Rises Series

The Death Rises series is a two-part series.  WARNING! These novels are nothing like the Steven Gordon Series.  Death Rises is a brutal novel with a negative hero.  I have had more complaints about the content of this novel than any other, so if you are easily offended then don't bother.  Some have even asked me to take it down, but I won't.  Despite the negativity of the main character, I believe the book is well balanced; of course, you may well have to look hard for that balance but it is there.  Neither am I sympathetic towards the main character.  He simply is who he is.  The right person at the right time doing the right thing.

The 1st Battalion the Gordon Highlanders/ Space Division is the second book in this series, and is my all-time favorite of all my own work, despite the appearance of the main character from its parent novel.  In this novel, he only plays a very small part and the story is taken up by one of his youngest sons.  It is a great adventure, a romp around the galaxy and in my opinion well worth a read, that's if you can get through Death Rises.

Death Rises

Brutalized himself from an early age, Jim Morrison is is a racist, homophobic, bigot with homicidal tendency’s.
When disaster strikes humanity this foul flower begins to shine, and so begins the rise to power of a man who should have been sanctioned. Yet as humanity races towards extinction, he is the right man in the right place at the right time. Can his twisted mind save humanity from the never ending night, or will his twisted mind doom mankind to extinction.

1st Battalion The Gordon Highlanders/SD

In this second helping of the Death Rises series we join James Morrison son of Jim Morrison as he joins his regiment The 1st Battalion The Gordon Highlanders/Space Division. Despite the privileges of his childhood Jim Morrison did not bring up his youngest full blooded human son to be soft. With very few full bloods left James has had to fight an uphill battle his whole life against the prejudices a society of mixed bloods threw at him. James however is more than up to the task. Traveling around the universe with his father as a child, James is beloved of the other races within the Universe, and has been adopted into many of the ruling families.
A few short weeks after he reaches the battalion, an attack by an unknown enemy sends James on the adventure of a lifetime. His father sends him, a few scouts and the grandson of Billy Henderson on a mission to discover the nature of the threat. What he discovers sends the people of the universe into shock, and so starts a desperate race against time.
